据说这事，最先是在 Hacker News 上火起来的，OSchina 也作了翻译报导：

这两天，一年一度的 Python 编程语言大会PyCon正在加州的 Santa Clara 市举行。但是在 Hacker News 和 Reddit 上掀起波浪的不是大会的内容，而是发生在 PyCon 上的一件琐事，现在已经被半开玩笑的命名为“PyCon 事件”。

Adria Richards 是一位开发者推广师。她的工作就是参与各种开发者大会，让开发者们更了解她公司的产品。这次的 PyCon 已经是她自从二月份开始参加的第五个开发者大会。不幸的是，在 PyCon 的开幕仪式上，两位坐在 Adria 后面的男士在聊天互相开玩笑时有意无意说了一些让 Adria 很不愉快的话。

后果，很严重！

Adria 的“圣女贞德反应”是转身用智能手机拍一张照片，在 Twitter 上把两位男士曝光，然后再把整个事情升级为性别歧视，说他们在 PyCon 营造了一种对女性怀有敌意的环境，为了“下一代科技领域的女性不继续成为受害者”，她不得不这么做。这条 Tweet 马上火了起来，其中一位男士的公司也不问青红皂白，已经将他炒了鱿鱼。

事情发生之后，绝大多数的网友，包括很多女性网友，都觉得 Adria 太过分了。一句两个男人之间的荤笑话虽然在 PyCon 这种场合下很不专业，但是完全没有必要升级到这种地步。
